What are the Goals of the Measles and Rubella Initiative?
The primary goals of the M&RI are to reduce measles mortality by 95% compared to the levels in 2000 and to achieve regional elimination of both measles and rubella. To accomplish these goals, the initiative focuses on several key strategies:
Increasing vaccination coverage to achieve and maintain high immunization rates Improving disease surveillance to identify and respond to outbreaks promptly Strengthening routine immunization services to ensure sustainable access to vaccines Promoting community engagement and education to raise awareness about the importance of vaccination
