EPI has achieved significant successes since its inception:
Reduction in global child mortality rates due to vaccine-preventable diseases. Near eradication of polio, with only a few cases reported annually. Substantial decreases in measles and tetanus cases worldwide. Introduction of new vaccines, such as those against rotavirus and pneumococcal diseases. Improved health infrastructure and increased access to healthcare services in many countries.
