How is HBV DNA related to Hepatitis B Vaccination?
Hepatitis B vaccination aims to stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies against the HBV, thereby preventing infection. The vaccine contains a non-infectious component of the virus, usually the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). It does not contain HBV DNA, thus it cannot cause the disease. Monitoring HBV DNA levels is vital in individuals who are already infected to assess the progression and response to treatment, but it is not relevant for vaccinated individuals who have never been infected.
