The measles-rubella (MR) vaccine is a combined vaccine that provides protection against both viruses. It is usually administered in two doses, with the first dose given at 9-12 months of age and the second at 15-18 months. The vaccine contains live, attenuated (weakened) viruses that stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies without causing the disease. This leads to long-lasting immunity.
